MEDIA RELEASE
Australian Sikh Gurdwara Council Stands in Solidarity Following Bondi Beach Tragedy
Sydney, ASGC expresses its deepest condolences and solidarity with all those affected by the recent tragic events at Bondi Beach. We offer our heartfelt prayers to the victims, their families, and the entire community during this time of grief and healing.
In the wake of this incident, we have observed a troubling rise in hateful rhetoric and hostility toward immigrants and minority groups on various social media platforms. The Sikh community, being visibly identifiable through the wearing of turbans and beards, is particularly concerned about the potential for misunderstanding and targeted prejudice.
ASGC urges members of the Sikh community across Australia to remain calm but vigilant. Stay aware of your surroundings, look out for one another, and report any instances of discrimination, harassment, or hate-related activity to the appropriate authorities.
We reaffirm our commitment to promoting the Sikh principles of equality, compassion, and unity. Our Gurdwara is open to anyone who may need support, guidance, or assistance in these times of uncertainty. Community members requiring help or wishing to report any concerning incidents are encouraged to contact us directly for support.
As proud Australians and followers of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings, we stand for peace, solidarity, and respect for all. Acts of violence and hatred have no place in our society, and we remain dedicated to fostering harmony and understanding among all communities.
